Volunteer at Sussex Lavender
- help change lives by bringing lavender to the hands of many
Sussex Lavender is a real, working project with a clear mission - and we are building the committed core team who will carry it forward. This is not a casual drop-in or an open day; it is an invitation to people ready to give regular time, skill and heart to the long-term vision.
A short hello from the field - and a feel for the work you'd be part of.

Volunteer Opportunities
Sussex Lavender is already doing a great deal - donating fresh lavender to organisations supporting people facing real disadvantage, running quarterly ticketed wellbeing days that fund the mission, and working steadily towards becoming a Community Interest Company. To carry this forward, we are building a dedicated core team.
To protect this land and the quiet work it holds, the field is not open to the public, and we are not able to offer casual, drop-in volunteering. What we are looking for is people who can give regular time and focus - who want to be part of the long-term vision and put their time and skills into the mission. If that is you, you are exactly who we would love to welcome. Work experience placements are also available for those who want to learn and contribute over a sustained period.
The roles we most need
Land Steward Paid role
Tending the land is the heart of everything. This is a paid role for a reliable, committed person to care for the field through the seasons - growing, harvesting, and keeping the land in good heart.
Sales Paid by commission
As we grow, a permanent role helping our lavender and products reach the people and shops whose support sustains the mission and funds what we give away. Paid by commission.
Office & Administration
In time, a permanent role keeping the operation organised - orders, bookings, records, and the steady day-to-day that keeps everything running smoothly.
Other ways a committed team helps
Alongside the key roles, our trusted core volunteers give regular time across the areas below. Each one asks for steady commitment rather than one-off help.
Harvest & Bundling
When harvest comes, our trusted core team brings the crop in together - cutting, bundling and carrying. It is grounding work in good company, for those who are part of the committed team.
Community Outreach
Building lasting relationships with the organisations, charities and community groups who receive our lavender. Trust, built patiently over time, matters more than any marketing.
Storytelling & Content
Photography, video, writing and social media, offered regularly. If you can capture what matters and share it well, the story of this mission is one worth telling.
Product & Craft Development
Helping develop the body care products, home goods and handmade items made from our lavender - the commercial work that sustains what we give away.
Fundraising & Grants
Our mission grows as our funding grows. Ongoing help with grant applications, donor relations and our fundraising wellbeing days is deeply valued.
Digital & Operations
Behind every harvest and donation is a website, a database and a system. Regular help with web, IT or operations keeps the whole mission running.
Independent Collaboration
Personal Initiative Opportunities
If you'd like to build a small cottage industry of your own using lavender, we'd love to hear from you. Anyone wishing to create their own lavender-based products or crafts is welcome to collaborate with Sussex Lavender - generating your own income by bringing your work to the marketplace alongside ours.
