The Timeline
From a dream to a field in bloom
In spring 2020 we propagated baby plants from cuttings of our first stock plants, tending them until we had 2,000 plants ready to plant out across the chalk hills of the South Downs. Since then every harvest has brought new people, new connections and a growing sense of what this place can become. The full timeline will be documented here.
Spring 2020
The field is planted. A small lavender farm takes root in the chalk downland of the South Downs.
Summer Harvest 2021
First harvest. The land begins to give.
First Community Harvest 2022
Volunteers are invited to bring in the crop together. In the act of harvesting side by side, something deeper emerges - shared purpose, cultural repair, and the rediscovery of a long-lost Sussex tradition. The idea is born: lavender as a vehicle for community wellbeing.
2023
A second community harvest. Copper alembic stills arrive and oil-making begins.
2024
The first Spread the Love initiative. Volunteers carry lavender back into their communities - gifting it to neighbours, care homes and people who could not come to the field themselves.
2025
A deepening focus on oil-making and community events. Connections form with local organisations. The vision of reaching disadvantaged people begins to take shape.
2026
The step toward becoming a Community Interest Company. Moving away from a commercial model and toward the original vision: bringing the regenerative experience of lavender farming to many more hands. Early conversations are underway with prison services, Band of Brothers, and women's wellbeing and shelter organisations.
